In Brief: Setanta . . . Freedom . . . Charade . . . Attitude

- With Setanta Sports in trouble yet again after losing the rights to show the Premier League next season, it looks like it is on the verge of collapse.
For us Irish living in the UK who are GAA fans, this is worrying. Here's an idea for RTE. Allow people who live abroad to subscribe to RTE, thus allowing us to watch our beloved national sport. Surely this can be done?

- TEN out of 10 for Kevin Myers for telling it like it is about the world of Islam.
There are 1,200 mosques in the UK and not a single Christian church in Saudi Arabia. The Muslims of the west are free to wear their clothing and symbols, but woe betide any Christian attempting to wear a crucifix or carry rosary beads in Saudi!

- Regarding the article 'Our most child-unfriendly school' (Irish Independent, June 20), a grandson of mine enrolled in a Catholic school at the start of the term and, as he has never been baptised, did not possess a baptismal cert. There was no problem with the enrolment.
It seems to be the fashion these days to have a go at the Catholic Church.
People should spend a little more time getting the facts right.

- How on earth are the Government, Kenny, Gilmore, Martin, et al, going to keep up the charade concerning the Lisbon "guarantees"? Their nerves will never stick it.

- I agree wholeheartedly with Gary J Byrne ('Religious trying to shift the blame, Letters, June 20). Making the utmost allowance for Dr Vincent Twomey's old school recalcitrance in the 'never apologise, never explain' mode, his attitude is still truly shocking.
