I'm sick of paying for the wealthy
Wednesday March 04 2009
I heard a 'headhunter' say on radio this morning that the new chief executive of the bank of Ireland should be paid more than €6m.
Are we learning anything from what is happening?
Who creates the wealth? Is it this type of person, or is it the general population who work for €35,000 per annum?
I know jobs have to be created, but we then start taking too much profit from non-productive jobs, start paying our public service, bankers, doctors and so on too much.
This has led us to where we now are.
How can we keep paying our consultants, doctors, solicitors so much when half the population is not working?
Is it not time the Government got these people to take a big cut in their incomes?
Mr Cowen and his ministers will not take a 40pc pay cut. Nor will they ask people in the public service who are earning over €100,000 a year to take a a 40pc pay cut.
What he will do is increase the tax on the people who are earning zero to €60,000 per annum in order to pay for the lifestyle of the wealthy.
He did say in his speech to the troops that the better off will have to pay more, but I will not hold my breath.
What I want is fairness and to teach people coming up to use whatever talent they are blessed with to help as many as they can and not just themselves.
