I guess we'll just have to make do

AS I walked under the Shannon last Saturday, even as I marvelled at the magnificent engineering involved, I couldn't help feeling a hint of sadness about it.

There was a feeling that this was a swan song, the last of a dying species.

Massive projects like this kilometre-long tunnel were a product of the Celtic Tiger-driven National Development Plan.
