I give charity to those who are most like me

It is in the nature of charity that we give to causes that we favour and given the large number of possibilities it is unfair to say that for charity to begin at home is 'racist'.

As a single Cork woman I favour charities that benefit my demographic.

I applaud Ms O'Farrell's (Letters, July 25) selflessness in giving everything she has to keep a starving African child alive. Although she may be broke today, the fact that her charity has no limits must be of great comfort to her.
