How dare Shatter say we can't judge judges
How dare Justice Minister Alan Shatter chide us for criticising the judiciary. Judges are fallible like the rest of us. As citizens we have an absolute right, indeed a duty, to scrutinise, criticise and even ridicule anybody or person in a position of power lest they lose the run of themselves.
Given the horrors of the Catholic Church child sex abuse scandal, we in Ireland should be particularly aware of the dangers of giving uncritical deference to a powerful elite.
