Home is where the heartless is

I read recently how a "property expert" says the Government should introduce a new tax which would cost the "average" homeowner €625 a year.
This "site tax" would also be regarded as a tax on wealth and "people with bigger gardens should pay more". He went on: "Such a tax could force old people to leave their homes but this might not be a bad thing as those homes are sometimes more suited to families."
So, a pair of ambitious, hard-working, young newlyweds roll up their sleeves and buy a site, build a home and then scrimp and save for years to pay for it. They gradually improve their home while planting and lovingly caring for a garden; meanwhile, they struggle to raise a family and successfully launch them into the world. Eventually, the husband retires on a contributory old age pension.
