Historical site will be lost to all

Sir -- I am the son of Fiona Connolly, the youngest daughter of James Connolly.
I have been following the debate on the proposed development on the Carlton site. John Drennan's report indicates that the developers have confirmed a proposed agreement. My understanding is that the four houses will not be retained in their entirety, which probably will mean that the site will not be viable structurally as a National Monument.
The historic importance of the complete area, including the surrounding streets and the GPO in relation to the 1916 Easter Rising and the creation of the modern Irish Nation is paramount. If implemented, the proposed development will lose forever the historical significance of the area, not only to future generations, but also to the international community.
