Heartbroken at widower's letter

Sir -- To the 79-year-old man who wrote the 'Letter of the Week' last Sunday, can I say: sorry I do not know your name, but when I read your letter last Sunday it broke my heart and I was very sorry you felt so let down by our Church. You are in a very hard place at the moment, especially with the death of your wife. You are right, the Church as an institution is far removed from the plan of Jesus, but we are first of all the family of God. I think the people in charge forget this at times. At the moment we are a dysfunctional family in a lot of ways but we have to realise that there are many good members of this family with Jesus as our guide.
