Harris should be commended

Madam -- Further to the letter from Dr Brian P Murphy OSB in last week's Sunday Independent: the programme An Tost Fada came about as a result of a letter I wrote to Eoghan Harris congratulating him on the RTE film Cork's Bloody Secret, to which he contributed with conviction. In that letter, I recalled my grandparents' departure from Dunmanway. Eoghan Harris has a human conscience and along with the director and producers of An Tost Fada should be commended for bringing this true story to such a wide audience.

The programme did not criticise the politicians of that period. It was merely exposing the politics of the people of Southern Ireland.
