Harney's pledges prove empty

Mary Harney's words to delegates attending a conference in Dublin to mark World Suicide Prevention day should be taken with a grain of salt.
She told delegates that "her priority as minister is to ensure that suicide prevention services were accessible to all".
Those working hard to address this most harrowing of events should bear in mind that the minister is particularly strong on promises, but alas is weak on delivery.
