The National Coursing Festival at Clonmel will be held at the end of the month, with more than 30,000 visitors attending from all over Ireland and abroad.

It's strangle how little coverage this gets in the media, yet a handful of individuals with a personal vendetta against the coursing community are given the space in the columns of the press to spread propaganda and untruths, some of which are so bizarre that it's hard to fathom how they get published.

The Irish Coursing Club does the State some service nurturing the health, well-being and protection of the hare, and along with State agencies has a full-time job on its hands monitoring illegal hunting and poaching.
