Green theories go up in smoke

Experts say this week's puff of volcanic ash from a glacier in Iceland will result in cooling over Northern Europe for years to come.

The Krakatoa eruption in 1883 was infinitely greater and its effect on global climatic cooling can only be guessed at.

Erupting volcanoes are commonplace in various parts of the world and I have no doubt they will remain so in the future.
