Greed has killed our patriotism

WHILE having a conversation with a friend about this weekend’s rugby match, I was accused of being unpatriotic when I mentioned that I was going to place a wager that England would beat Declan Kidney’s men at Twickenham.
This got me thinking about all of the bankers, tax consultants, fund managers, solicitors, stockbrokers and their clients who will travel to Twickenham this weekend, dressed in their green; together under the banner of ‘patriotism’.
Yet when these men and women get back to the office on Monday they will return to their jobs – advising and assisting their wealthy clients to avoid paying tax to the country that they so vocally support from the stands.
