Government's lack of forward thinking

ON New Year's Eve, a couple of inches of snow fell and temperatures dropped to zero. We, the public, expected it from the weather forecasts.

But our public sector did not think to grit the roads. There were accidents everywhere.

It was impossible to get a taxi. Thousands of our young women who had celebrated the new year had to walk home in high shoes and party dresses because they could not get a taxi.
