Goodwill must not erode political process
IN his admirably composed statements to the media about his illness last Monday, Finance Minister Brian Lenihan asked the Opposition to "ensure that the goodwill of political foes does not impact on normal political processes".
In the public interest, and also out of respect for Mr Lenihan, the media goodwill towards him should not colour their commentary on the public finances during the course of his treatment. Recent commentary on his performance to date as Finance Minister has been somewhat diluted, to say the least.
I wish him well.
