'Golden Circle' is reborn in Ireland
I THOUGHT this new Government was meant to be a break with the past?
Yet, not even a week into its term, there is a new Golden Circle being formed of ‘opinion shapers' who have access to the highest level of government to push their agenda through the report ‘A Blueprint for Ireland's Recovery'– the contents of which its authors say should be kept ‘secret' until the Government engages with them.
Having not seen the report, I am still confident its main recommendations are a reduction in the minimum wage and in public sector pensions but not pension tax relief for higher earners. I bet it also offers no solution to reduce the actual cost of living in Ireland or to cap the pay of those at senior level in the public and private sector to lessen income inequality in Ireland.
