Give Kenny time to show his talent
Sir -- What a mean-spirited and begrudging spectacle your paper (Sunday Independent, Mar 6, 2011), presented as regards the new Government. Neither parties had rolled out their joint Programme for Government, yet your journalists saw fit to revert to type after their brief dalliance with Fine Gael before the election.
Might I remind you that the people did not give FG a majority, yet your paper seems to imply that they should have relied on Independents as diverse as Shane Ross, Michael Healy Rae, Michael Lowry -- no thanks we have had enough of that.
Instead FG and Labour have combined to form what is essentially a National Government. The problems they face are huge. They and the new Taoiseach deserve a fair wind, but given your incessant, continued and nasty attacks on Mr Kenny since he became FG leader, it does not augur well that this will be case.
