George's exit all about the timing

POOR George Lee: "There wasn't going to be room made for me," he sobbed as he scuttled back to the bosom of Montrose. We can only presume that he had designs on a job that would first have to be vacated by Richard Bruton. Trouble was, Richard was not going anywhere, until now.
Now, with supreme irony, George may very well have caused a vacancy in the Finance spot, with Richard moving on to a greater calling.
And despite what George tells us about his time in power(less), June 6 to February 8 is not nine months. His premature departure was, fittingly, only eight months after his conception in Dail Eireann, or 19 three-day weeks in the calendar of that House.
