Gay marriage rant is outdated
David Quinn complains "no fewer than four people were on a ('Today with Pat Kenny') panel discussing same-sex marriage and all spoke in favour of it" (Irish Independent, February 27). And how is this a bad thing?
The irony that all members of the panel actually spoke in favour of same-sex marriage would seem to have passed Mr Quinn by. There is absolutely nothing wrong with two people who are in love and who want to get married actually getting married.
Why is Mr Quinn in favour of such flagrant discrimination against Irish citizens?
This is not the Ireland of the 1950s as run by the Catholic Church. The moral zeitgeist has changed. Society has moved on.
People are more open-minded and tolerant. Such bigotry and homophobia should be thoroughly denounced.
Unfortunately, Mr Quinn is still living in the Bronze Age -- and seems proud of it.
