Garret was one of our greatest statesmen

With the passing of Dr Garret FitzGerald we have witnessed the demise of one of Ireland's greatest statesman in the past 100 years.

Garret was an authentic Irish Republican patriot, imbued with integrity, compassion, intelligence and understanding. Like Mahatma (Great Soul) Gandhi, he had a great soul and worked tirelessly as a one-man national educational institution to enlighten and educate a nation towards Christian solidarity, reconciliation, unity, non-sectarianism with a tolerance of all other beliefs and traditions.

Garret toiled all his life for liberty, humanity, justice, equality and lived as a compassionate philosophising patriot and died as a Christian.
