Gang of two put themselves first
Madam – The Labour Party has allowed itself to be taken over by a group led by Gilmore and Rabbitte. These two people, who now criticise others in Labour for abiding by election promises and their principles, should remember their own records.
Gilmore, who was so trenchant in his election promises to fight Fine Gael cuts has, in office, not delivered. It does not seem to matter, as Rabbitte in a recent television programme said election promises are really meaningless.
They talk about putting Ireland first, but it has become obvious who they put first. Never was the slogan "patriotism is the refuge of scoundrels" more apt.
