Game 'slaughter' should be banned

The recent bad weather has been a tough time for man, bird, and beast, and again proves that we are not well equipped in this country to tackle the problems that the snow and ice bring.

The Green Party were very successful in banning stag hunting recently -- probably the only thing they will be remembered for when they are wiped off the political face of Ireland in the next election.

Where are they while our hungry pheasants and other game are being slaughtered by "sportsmen"? These birds are so hungry and weak at the moment one could probably knock one with a catapult. Surely, in this weather, shooting of game should be banned.
