Funeral protocols plain to see
Brendan Cafferty wonders about the protocols used by the President and Taoiseach in choosing to attend funerals (Letters, January 12).
His letter reminded me of another illustrative case.
In December 2001, Sister Philomena Lyons was murdered in Co Monaghan in one of the most shocking crimes of the last decade. (Your readers will no doubt recall vividly the heart-rending pictures showing the grief of her fellow sisters at her funeral.)
