Funding new hospital in time of health crisis

AT a time when hospitals built as recently as 2005 are being closed due to "lack of funds", and the ones we have are full to overflowing, you have to wonder at the rationale behind the Government's latest plan for a new, half-billion euro hospital to be built in Dublin. It seems to me the money would be far better spent improving what we already have.

As the old saying goes: "If it's not broken, don't fix it." Well ours certainly is broken. But in traditional Irish fashion, we're getting more.
