Front-loading . . . Yellow flag . . . Prosecute . . . Optics

The first time I heard the description 'front-loading', was for a new design of the U-matic, a trusty and reliable video cassette workhorse beloved of industrial and commercial video producers in the 1970s and 1980s. It was a good machine of its analogue time. Obviously, the powers in Government still reside in that era.

  • When I read Emmet Oliver's statement in relation to Anglo Irish Bank that "from the perspective of the bank and Finance Minister Brian Lenihan, it is all going swimmingly so far", I got a bit of a land (Irish Independent, October 28). When taxpayers have to pay €25bn or €30bn for the mistakes of that bank, I would hardly call it "going swimmingly".
