Foxholes. . . Death-bed conversion. . . Golden fate
David Quinn drags out the tired old adage that "there are no atheists in foxholes" (Irish Independent, October 15). But a quick internet search reveals many memorial organisations devoted to just those, whose memory he readily tramples upon.
But following his lead, I propose my own theory. With so many within the church willing to break their own God-given rules, willing to risk eternal damnation, would it not be more apt to propose that there were no believers in the Vatican?
