Form an orderly queue to birch

Madam – May I strongly disagree with the 50 per cent of voters who want a new party for the next election?

Do people really think that there is a pool of untapped talent out there instead of the committee members, totally lacking in original thought, that we get time after time.

We don't need more teachers, publicans etc looking for a big expense account. We need to change our laws to ensure that if elected, a politician and his/her party do what they promised and were elected to do and if caught telling fibs a good birching should follow.

Failing that, maybe we could have a box marked "none of the above" so that we don't have to spoil votes or stay at home in order to let them know what we think of them.

Should the birching job ever go to public tender we could all draw lots for it. Unfortunately it will probably go to some foreign company like all the other tenders that are haemorrhaging jobs (and tax) out of the jurisdiction.
