Football attendance was large for Group A

Last weekend there were 19 international games played across Europe and the 33,200 in attendance at the Aviva Stadium for Ireland V Macedonia was the fifth largest.
It was beaten by Wales, who were at home to neighbours England; Georgia, who were at home to then group leaders Croatia; high-flying Germany at home to Kazakhstan; and Austria, then second in Group A, at home to Belgium in a key game for second place behind Germany in Group A.
In that context it was a good attendance but obviously not good enough for the likes of Daniel McDonnell, if his article on Saturday was anything to go by.
