Final surrender to British government

IT is official. Ireland is now part of the United Kingdom. A report on the front page of Wednesday's Irish Independent disclosed that as part of the €85bn bailout package, the British government is lending Ireland €3.5bn. In return, the British government is entitled to send auditors here to check the books as part of its bilateral deal.

For the rest of the day I eagerly awaited some response to this gross intrusion into our affairs from those two great republican institutions Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein. Where lies their ultimate goal and often-stated ambition to have the six counties returned to the Irish people? I suggest a good start would be to attempt to retrieve the 26 counties.
