FG will never get 50pc in the polls

THE last time Fianna Fail got more than 45pc in an election was in the early 1980s. Even during the Celtic Myth years it failed to get more than 40pc.

Is 'The X Factor' considered less of a ratings winner in 2010 because it "only" gets about 12 million viewers compared with the audiences of 20 million for 'Morecambe and Wise' in the early 1980s?

The days of an Irish political party getting 50pc, or anything like it, are long gone and those who think Fine Gael ought to be getting that level of support need to wake up.
