FF puts party before people

Wednesday March 10 2010

What is all this nonsense about Fianna Fail only being able to rely on 81 votes in the Dail?

There is no conceivable scenario -- no issue or scandal -- that will make anyone elected under the Fianna Fail banner, be they real, provisional, republican, independent, black sheep or whatever, vote against the party if there is even the remotest risk of it causing an election.

The comment pieces saying how much easier various resignations now make it for Biffo to pacify vested interests -- with no mention of the merits of any potential minister -- tell you all you need to know about how his mind still operates.

As per usual, his Cabinet will be based firstly, secondly and thirdly on what suits Fianna Fail. The needs of the party -- and the golden circle that finances it, and on which it is now more dependent than ever to remain financially viable -- will come before all else.

Party first.
