FF actions aren't about survival

I am surprised that Christy Crawford ('Fianna Fail is all about political survival', Letters, February 4) does not see the blatant contradiction in saying that government decisions are based on "political survival rather than national renewal".
How can he not see the obvious weakness in this argument?
Every decision taken by the Government in the past 18 months has been hugely unpopular and involved massive cutbacks across all sectors of Irish society.
