Eyes wide open

•I disagree with Lou Gogan when he or she declares that our present problems are due to the 'feudal failures' of a 'blinkered . . . peasantry' (Letters, November 25). Our problems have nothing to do with the 'peasantry'.

Their blinkered vision arose from being kept in the dark by the lords and masters about the fact that what was happening was liable to bankrupt the country.

Our present problems stem from the very modern failures of a very small number of powerful people.
