Expenses article embarrassment

In response to the edition of your newspaper on 04/08/2010 where you made reference to Cllr Tadhg O'Donovan, Fermoy, to have received expenses from Cork County Council of €58,329 for 2009 and €44,308 for 2008.
As a public representative first elected back in 1979 and at present a member of the Fermoy Town Council I can confirm to your readership that over that period there has never been any other councillor elected in the Fermoy area by the name of Cllr Tadhg O'Donovan. While under no circumstances whatsoever was I in receipt of monies from the Cork County Council. The misinformation published in your newspaper has created great personal embarrassment for me.
I can only assume the reason for putting the expenses into the public domain was in the interests of public accountability, a cause I would greatly admire, but unfortunately your misinformation has created a distortion and undermined the credibility of the exercise, while offending me as a person and in my role as a public representative.
