Europe owes us a renegotiation

A word of encouragement to Enda Kenny on his first visit to Helsinki as leader of a new Irish Government next week for the informal summit of heads of state belonging to the European Parliament's EPP group.
When he gets the expected objections from German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, he should remind both of them forcefully of Ireland's past willingness to "renegotiate" at Europe's request in holding two additional referenda to get european treaties passed. One hand washes the other.
