Energy in electric cars is clean

I NOTE the hostility towards the introduction of electric cars on to the Irish markets in a number of letters.
They miss the point that, as we move toward 40pc of all electricity in Ireland being generated by renewables within 10 years (we currently produce 15pc in this manner), there is a fantastic opportunity for Ireland to reduce its oil needs by using wind and tidal energy to fuel our cars.
The future electric fleet will, like Turlough HiIl did in its time, become the new energy storage mechanism whereby night-time generated electricity from our onshore and offshore turbines will be transmitted into the batteries of thousands of vehicles in driveways around Ireland for use the following morning when the working day begins.
