Enda's foot in it
• John O'Connor's well-written letter (February 20) has absolutely hit the nail on the head. For his letter to be written so long after the event shows just how angry people still are after "that remark".
Being one of the ordinary people of Ireland, I worked hard during the boom and didn't "go mad partying". Not only did I feel hurt and let down by Enda Kenny's remark but totally ashamed of him as our representative in a sophisticated international setting -- coming out with simplistic nonsense like that!
Doesn't he realise that if it wasn't for the dignified and restrained behaviour of the Irish population (no thanks to him) he wouldn't be having such an easy time of it.
Many of us gave him the benefit of the doubt at election time but make no mistake, it doesn't matter how many rabbits he pulls out of the hat in the future, we are not going to forget.
