Emigrants should thank the State

I AM sick and tired of opening the letters pages to find another melodramatic contribution, written by a recent graduate, blaming the Government for their impending emigration.

These letters are nothing more than a cry for pity from the self-indulgent, thinking their predicament is unique in Ireland's long historic record of net emigration.

It seems these people are forgetting that the Government that they blame has provided them with a free third-level education.
