Elderly patients sitting in agony
A SIGNIFICANT number of elderly patients who attend hospital A&Es are left sitting on hard chairs for lengthy periods. Those suffering from osteoporosis and/or severe arthritis soon experience rapidly increasing pain. If left too long they will inevitably sink into their own personal, awful and brutal universe of ongoing agony.
Whatever about beds or trolleys no hospital can possibly justify not having, at the very least, a comfortable chair for sick and elderly A&E patients. But those responsible if reproached will undoubtedly trot out the same old glib and intelligence-insulting excuses.
The solution, however, is glaringly obvious.
