Elderly can easily afford passport fees

I am disappointed at the attitude of elderly lobby groups regarding the reintroduction of passport fees. These groups claim that the fee may discourage some elderly from renewing their passports.

This claim is incredible. A 10-year passport costs €80, or €8 a year. If an elderly person can't afford that, how can they afford the cost of an airline ticket?

The country is skint and we can't afford freebies to people who can easily afford it. The entitlement culture is wearing thin with people.
