Duh! Of course we are sceptical
Wednesday June 18 2008
Duh? After almost seven years of opinion polls saying... 'We'd prefer this M3 motorway not to go through this not only extremely historic but also probably the most emotionally important site for us, the politicians wonder why we don't trust them?
The fact that once you read the planning permission and see Conor Newman's opinion -- by someone with 18 or more years working in the Tara area -- being overridden by someone who's never even worked in that type of area, it doesn't inspire the average person to believe that our Government has actually read the documents (sounds familiar!) to do with the M3 planning permission through Tara, or care a hoot about what the Irish people think or want.
So it's not a great leap from the Greens wanting their ministerial cars to our TDs wanting cushy MEP jobs -- and who cares how it affects the ordinary Irish person.
We are right to be sceptical. The EU must clarify Lisbon and not rely on trust.
