Doom and gloom news too much

Niall Tobin, in one of his shows, told a yarn about a guest at a wedding in Cork who, when asked what song he would sing, said: "I'll sing the Banks", to which the collective reply was "Oh, for God sake, we have a pain in our arse from listening to the Banks, can you not sing something different?"
He was referring, of course, to 'The Banks of my Own Lovely Lee'. However, we the plain people of Ireland have a pain in the same part of the anatomy from listening to constant pounding of the airways with news of every false move the banks make.
If you listen to the radio (RTE in particular) you will have lost the will to live by lunchtime from the incessant, repetitive, boring and depressing noises emanating from the plastic box in the corner.
