Disabled parking ruling is unfair

WHILE there is much to welcome in the recent review of the disabled parking permit scheme, it’s grossly unfair that an individual’s mobility impairment has to be adjudged by a doctor to be permanent before they can qualify for a two-year parking badge.

As the Transport Minister and those involved in the review – such as the Irish Wheelchair Association – should know, the long term prognosis of some conditions can be far from clear.

Why is such discrimination acceptable?
