Dempsey has missed the point

Minister Noel Dempsey's complaint that "Ministers for Transport don't actually go out and grit the roads" misses the point entirely.
He is not expected to wield a shovel. He is expected to show some leadership.
This means that he must at least lend his presence, rather than lend his tuppence-worth from a sun-soaked beach in Malta.
