Defeatist attitude ingrained in our psyche

I found Kevin Myers's article, 'It's an Irish characteristic. We are comfortable with failure. . .' (Irish Independent, February 16), very insightful.
What he writes should resonate with every Irish person aged over 20.
And what he is saying is not just an interesting observation on Irish life. I believe what Mr Myers is saying should be given the serious attention it deserves. He is speaking about a collective Irish psyche, one we must all consider in these serious times, for it is this that must change if this country is to emerge from recession.
