•I would be very grateful for Michael Noonan's reassurance that he always and unfailingly double-checks his trouser pockets before sending them off to the cleaners.
I say this because in recent weeks I have noticed just how slow and laboured the hitherto very strident walk of our Finance Minister has become. This, of course, may well be associated with the extremely demanding task of putting together the forthcoming Budget.
However, in view of the recently discovered €3.6bn accounting error, I do not think it unreasonable to wonder whether the minister's slowed walk could instead possibly be due to his being heavily weighed down by a mislaid billion or two lying around undetected deep down in those pockets of his.
