Debunking the myths surrounding Corrib

IN Kevin Myers's column on April 21 ('Pat Rabbitte's speech is the most brilliant and forensic refutation of the anti-Shell rhetoric'), we were made aware of the statement by Mr Rabbitte in the Dail on an SF-sponsored motion on Ireland's natural resources and Corrib Gas in particular.
As Mr Myers points out, this was a clear, brave and unambiguous statement from the Energy Minister and it dispels many of the myths surrounding our supposed vast quantities of natural resources off our shores, the costs of exploring them and the benefits they can yield. ESRI's statement, released yesterday, should bring to the fore the necessity of having the gas flowing as soon as possible.
