•In the "miracle of Moscow" only Richard Dunne and Shay Given prevented us from being swallowed up by the 'Red' sea.

It is indeed a funny old game, as Jimmy Greaves used to chuckle. Lucky to get nil against Slovakia on Friday; then surviving the longest siege since Leningrad in Moscow on Tuesday. How funny it all really was is hard to say, though there was some irony in mighty Armenia riding to our rescue by slaughtering the Slovaks 4-0.

Armenia prides itself as being the first country to formally embrace Christianity in the fourth century -- they certainly did unto us a brotherly turn by resurrecting our hopes.
