Cowen's apology for 'bonhomie'

So, our Taoiseach tells us that he will in future be more cautious in his social life, and will leave functions earlier -- to get to bed, I assume (Irish Independent, September 18).

This firm purpose of amendment which he has, in fact, given us before is quite hilarious, and quite in contrast to last Tuesday in Galway when he blamed the opposition for a "new low" in Irish politics to the cheers of his assembled party.

Just what did our Taoiseach apologise for then?
