Condemnation of Rising is tired
I take issue with Joe Langan (Letters, April 7). To commemorate and remember the rebellion of 1916 is not to equate it with the demands and issues of modern Ireland.
To state that the motivations of the men and women of 1916 have little relevance to the Ireland of 2010 is correct. But that does not mean that their actions were not relevant to 1916.
Simply because the murderous IRA thugs of the Troubles and beyond claim legitimacy from 1916 does not mean that they are correct to do so.
